This might SHOCK you (it did me) but do you realise that you are spending a large part of your existence in a parallel universe? That universe is called CYBERSPACE – the global bubble of computer networking that is now our primary home. In fact, are we even really human anymore?

Think about it – how much of your day is spent interacting with other human beings physically (i.e., Bio-to-Bio), and how much of your connection to the world is digital (Sim-to-Sim)?

You see a lot of the world through television and YouTube. You know the Antarctic by visiting it in a TV program with David Attenborough.  It’s all virtual.

Your relationship with celebrities and the news is via a screen. You may even be interacting with your work colleagues through a virtual office and your social interactions may be through Zoom, Skype, Facebook, Telegram or other kinds of social media. How much of our everyday life is biological now? And this is even before we start talking about the metaverse and mind uploading*.

There is no doubt, we are becoming more and more sucked into cyberspace. Is this a good thing? For me, if it’s not done consciously, that’s a definite – NO.

Don’t Become a Sim Captive

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy television and social media too and I do a lot of my research via the web and Zoom, but I don’t want to lose myself to the virtual world. I recognise that for some people, living in a virtual reality may be their idea of heaven, but I choose to have a biological life and to dip in and out of the digital world. I don’t want to be a SIM captive.

As the future comes nearer, this sense of being sucked into the metaverse becomes stronger. “We are not destined to merge with the machine, we are destined to live IN it,” I once saw quoted. Horror! I have even heard our manmade, parallel existence called a mixture of the ‘foundation world’ (physical life) and the ‘cloud world’ (virtual life). It’s as if, somehow, our actual physical lives are just setting the foundation for our ‘real’ life – the virtual one.

We Pay a Price for our Time in Cyberspace

There is also a price to pay for our time in cyberspace. One commentator speaks of our experience on a Skype/Zoom call as often being – “…distorted in a haunting and shocking way. Watching others or our own blurred body and listening to a robotic voice creates a feeling of fear, misunderstanding, and strangeness. The user experience is frightening because it is similar to an altered state of consciousness: the image and sound seem to be an hallucination.”

When we sit quietly, staring at a computer we alter our consciousness into something that is a bit like the dream state. We are disconnected from the world around us. We are also slightly mesmerised and very suggestible in this state. We have entered a collective, global mind where we can be influenced for good or bad. Some people say that this is not just by ideas and graphics that are fed into our eyes, but also by a more subtle energy that comes through this connection. We may have no idea of what is sticking to our sub-conscious and our auras.

The Real Skill is…

Of course, digital technology is now a part of everyday life and that has its advantages. But for me, the real skill is being able to toggle effortlessly between the two worlds without losing myself or getting ‘dirty’. However, I get the sense that the more we enter the digital, the harder it is to come back to our biological reality and we start to become unanchored. Somehow our consciousness starts to detach from our body. I am still at the early stages of studying this so I don’t have scientific proof yet but, as an energy sensitive, I can feel it.

So, what can we do about it?

GET OUT INTO NATURE

Human beings are far more connected to the natural world than they realise. It makes me think of the blue, Nav’i people in the film, Avatar. Humans and nature are exquisitely intertwined and we both need that connection to stay healthy and balanced. Being in nature not only grounds us and cleans our energy field, it also helps to re-set our eyes with natural geometries and colours that are very soothing to our souls.

REAL HUMAN CONTACT

Try and spend time with real human beings that are not being distorted through a screen and who you can talk with in a flowing way and who you can touch. Having a physical massage is also good to restore your sense of physical self and is great for your general health, too.

APPLY SOME PEPPERMINT OIL

I am a keen advocate for essential oils, not just how they can help us physically, but also how they work powerfully on the energy level. Peppermint oil is very zingy and it is a great oil to smell first thing in the morning because it really clears our brain. It helps to bring us very much into the moment and be totally present. It sucks us back into the real world.

One of the best ways to use peppermint oil to keep you in the real world is to rub some under your nose so that you can continue to smell it throughout the day.

However, peppermint is quite a strong oil so you will need to dilute it with a carrier oil. Fractionated coconut oil is best for this but almond or apricot kernel oils are also good. I dilute it to about a third peppermint oil to two-thirds carrier oil and put it in a small roller bottle so I can re-apply it whenever I need to.

It is also a good idea to spray peppermint oil around your body to cleanse your aura. The peppermint oil needs to be diluted with water in this case in a small spray bottle. Again only a few drops of oil are needed in a small bottle of water. I find that this helps to stop any energies and thought-forms coming out of cyberspace from sticking to my energy field. It also helps to dissolve any illusions that are created in your psyche by cyberspace influence.

DO SOME PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

This doesn’t need to be anything hard or extreme, just move your body and re-connect with gravity. Scientists are now saying that sitting at a desk is like being in partial gravity, similar to the astronaut’s experience in space. We are not interacting with gravity and this is not only unhealthy, we also lose a sense of our physical boundary and shape. Chi gong is great for this as you don’t need any special space or equipment.

You can just follow a 10-minute video on YouTube (The Yoqi channel has a lot of good, short chi gong sessions). You may also want to do some deep breathing – something like the Wim Hof method is very useful. Again, see his channel on YouTube.

DO REGULAR DIGITAL DETOXES

Digital detoxes are so, so important if you are going to stay well and sane in the world that is coming. Try and have a day now and then when you do not look at your phone/tablet/computer. Of course, this fills some people with horror, in which case you need to ask yourself – why? If you can do this for 2 or 3 days even better.

You might want to combine your detox with a weekend break away. You may find that when you return to your device, you see things quite differently and realise how you have been sucked into some things that are not healthy for you.

*Mind loading is when your mind, memories, emotions, and personality are duplicated in digital form in a computer simulation The virtual ‘you’ lives in the virtual world and has a whole virtual life. It believes it is you! One commentator described it as if your life is a Y. The stem of the Y is your normal life but, when you upload your mind, your existence splits into two, the virtual branch and the biological branch. Of course, this is something that will be in the future, but not that far into the future.
